A Small Tribute to a Great Man

Fred, my very dear friend, these few words cannot express my feelings and full appreciation of your life which has been taken from us all so prematurely. We knew each other for only a few years but in that time our friendship showed me a man of outstanding character.

I will sorely miss your friendship, your neighbourly support, your humorous wisdom and hilarious anecdotes, your unselfish generosity, your colourful and interesting character and all of the many virtues that you possessed and shared. Most admirable though was your sincerity and integrity, very rare characteristics indeed, which I regarded as second to none. You were an inspiration and we should all be grateful for your contribution to this world which I believe far exceeded the noblest and most educated of men.

Unfortunately your body has abandoned you despite a courageous and determined battle against a dreadful illness but I know your spirit will live on and, with God's blessing, I hope and pray that you now find peace in a better world.

With these fond memories I now bid you farewell
