5. Because of Identity Theft, is it safe to upload a family tree?

We are aware that a frequent security question is "What is your Mother's maiden name"?

To keep this information secure, and to help prevent identity theft, we will only publish the 'ancestors' of the person being remembered, and we will not publish 'descendants'. To put this another way, we will publish a family tree backwards into the past, but not forwards to the present.

If your family tree does contain any 'descendents' of the person being remembered, we will cut it down so that it only contains 'ancestors'.

You should also be aware that the permission of anyone in the family tree who is still living, should be obtained before the family tree is submitted.
